GangaJumna Dancing Balakrishna (IBS118)
Description
We are pleased to be able offer another 2 metal piece. The process is called GangaJumna, named after the 2 holy Indian river, the Ganges and the Jumna. This process was perfected in the 18th Century buy sadly is now no longer. People have tried to replicate it but have not been sucessful.
This image represent the infant Krishna performing a dance whilst holding a butter ball. It is a classic image called a Dancing Balakrishna. The 2 metals have been applied so certain features, top knot, ornamentation, waist bells, lotus base, are excentuated. It is a very lovely piece and of a reasonable size. GJ pieces are becoming rarer and rarer. We always feel pleased when we are lucky enough to find one. Please take time to look at the photos which show this wonderful image in all the glory Krishna deserves.
