Description

One of the finest quality Rama images we have come by in many years. This image is hollow cast which dates it to late 16th century. The detail is wonderful and illustrates the devotion of the artist who cast it. The patination is a mid brown colour and although there are some signs of worship it retains a very special presence. Rama's movement and posture is very sublime and illustrates the amazing craftmanship of the maker. His face shows a real spiritual presence and the way he holds his hands indicates how regal and assured of his position he is. The dhoti simply flows around his body.

There is some bronze loss at the back of the base but this is commensurate with the age. A very beautiful piece and one we are proud to offer for sale. We will not see images of this quality in the future.
